From my earliest memories I've always been building things. When other kids were playing with plastic toys I was walking around with coping saws and pliers. A childhood reward to me was being allowed to use the tape recorder or spin the dials on old shortwave radios. Getting zapped, cut, or setting (a few) things on fire was true learning about life. Jump to adulthood, and I'm still building things when time permits. You never know what the next project is going to be around here...from CNC builds to boat modifications, generators to wrist watch reviews, or PVC antenna towers to truck roof racks, it's all possible. Thank you for stopping by, I do truly appreciate my subscriber's time, comments, and input. Keep building!
Whisky Smoker - A DIY CNC Project

Solar Charging a Modified 1967 Runabout! Easy DIY Project!
Переглядів 237Місяць тому
I modified an old 1967 Glastron runabout to use an electric outboard. For charging of the battery bank I've always used a regular house powered charger. As used solar panels get more available and the prices come down I wanted to build a system to use the sun to recharge the batteries. For this build I used a discounted Victron solar controller, two solar panels I found on Facebook Marketplace ...

Custom Aluminum Stern Light Base - Made on A Cheap DIY CNC!
Переглядів 2373 місяці тому
Our 1967 Glastron needed a new stern light. I had a low profile stern light that was purchased a while ago for another project and figured it would work well for this boat. The problem was the base was too small for the old mount. So, a little CNC cutting on some scrap aluminum and we have a cool looking stern light. Thanks for taking a look!

6' Mini Boat With an ePropulsion Spirit 1.0 Motor!
Переглядів 8138 місяців тому
About five years ago I built a 6' Rapid Whale mini boat (the build series is on this channel). We used it for a while and then life got busy and it was put aside. Last summer I purchased an ePropulsion Spirit 1.0 Plus to use on a couple of other boats. I modified the motor for my use by removing the tiller and building the throttle into a vintage shifter. And then one day I was looking at the l...

can you drive it like this on the road? I havre a popup camper and the entire lift system exploded. Definitely need some input. Cool video nonetheless!
Okay so instead of a ceiling fan just install this bad boy with a fancy electric wall panel for every room.
Ive been looking for a camper for my F150 for 6 years, and finally found this same model. Prices finally dropping. Love the camper dolly idea.
Thanks. It's a great little camper. The dolly made it extremely easy to move around in the garage and it worked well in our F150 short bed. Enjoy!
So is there something metal holding the wood shavings/chips?
Indeed. There is a mesh bowl that sits in the hole cut out. I may remix the video with a few more clips that show the smoker screens. They are listed in the video description. Fun project!
That's amazing you could have to kinds off sand paper on each side I just made one can't wait to try it nice one
Thanks for your comments. It's a great and easy mod. Best of luck.
I built a very similar electric outboard using that same brushless motor and controller kit. I mounted my motor separate from the drive and used a pair of cog belts running in parallel between the motor shaft and the lower unit coupling. That way I can change out cog gears to get different gear ratios. I tried that same motor coupling that you are using and it didn't last very long at all. I ended up using a solid coupling. I power it with four 12 volt 75 amp hour AGM batteries made for powering a Ryobi electric riding mower. I added a 48 volt to 12 volt buck converter to run a thermostatically controlled cooling fan. I have 3 seasons of use on mine.
Awesome! I thought about using a belt a lot. Even sketched out how to build it that way but then opted to try the couplers. Great to hear it has worked out well for you. On the next motor build I did I used a larger LoveJoy coupler that seems to be holding okay but belts are probably a better solution. Thanks for your comments!
You’re supposed to sip the smoky whiskey and go “Ahhhhhh”.
nice littlle trailer spray paint the whole tounge of the trailer black it will look better
That's exactly what we did! Agreed.
No help regarding the vital attachment of the Venturi tubes, their caps, and the set screws.
Jim Byrnes recently passed away, and it’s unclear if they’ll continue production of them. Accessories are still being sold at this point. I have a Proxxon FET and I’ve been pleased with it!
I'm very sorry to hear that. Thank you for the update.
I didn't know how to contact you to ask about your PVC Tube Ham Radio Tower. I was curious about how long it lasted or is it still going strong? I was thinking about doing something similar but using electrical conduit bc I believe that material has some UV protection. I also thought about overlapping the tubing 18" to make the joints more solid. What are your thoughts now about that project. Thanks, Tim
Wow, that project goes back a while. It was a fun build. I don't remember how long it lasted, a year or so....I ended up taking it down to either use the materials or build a different set up. Overlapping would strengthen the joints although I found the set up fine for my use at that height. Best of luck.
Looking forward to all the cool projects you can make the are boat-related!
Lots of possibilities and designs in the pipeline!
I came to your channel for the metal lathe mod and went shopping for a LR3 like your old one. Couldn't quite get me to take the plunge because I wanted more accuracy. Then i was leaning towards PrintNC/My own custom then boom 💥 You got a new one 😮 Can't wait to hear the review on garage works 🎉 congratulations 🎉
Thanks for the feedback and comments! Lots of CNC options out there both new and used. I've got a bunch of older videos on some older CNCs as well. Stay tuned...
I have to know how much is everything so far to this pint
What tent did you purchase?
www.amazon.com/dp/B07FD6J3SJ?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
I know the Torqeedo motor has an overload cutoff so if you get tangled in weeds the motor will spin almost like a clutch slipping. I don't know if the Epropulsion has a similar feature. If it does you may trip that cct by using a too high of a pitch and larger diameter prop. So just watch for that when you test it.
The epropulsion Spirit has a safety system so if the prop gets stuck no damage will result. I haven't tested this set up much but need to get back to it.
Ummm maybe see how it cools a room not the air blowing out. 🤔
Great video
Is that a one person bed?
It was a little over 6' wide, can sleep two.
Where did you get the canvas. I have a KZ Coyote and the plastic seam at top corner it cracked. Cover with Duct tape everytime we use but want to replace it. Second time it has been replaced but they don’t make the KZ Coyote anymore and can’t find one.
I think it was Bear Creek Canvas in Wisconsin.
Very nice 🎉
Thanks. A fun build.
How did you get 500rpm? Pulley change, potentiometer, VFD? Thanks 😊
Pulley change. Unfortunately no VFD on this one.
@@drez20001 Thanks!
Nice big Nema 23's. It should work really well for you. The working area of my Techno Isel is about the size of a cigar box.
It's a beast compared to the other CNC machines I've bought or built. Currently working on cable management and hope to start making stuff soon. I've made a few signs already for friends but have other projects in mind. Should be fun to use.
Какая Управляющая программа на станке ? Можно видео обзор на этот станок? И ссылку на этот станок где продают.
Wow... Nice score! 😊
Indeed! Hope to share some cool projects with it.
Boss idea. Good job.
Man don't show New Zealand on the map. We don't want everyone knowing where we are. 😁
Can this be used while the jackery is charged by solar?
The manual says to not be charging the Jackery while pulling from it at the same time but many do and have not had a problem. I'd guess it would depend on how much amperage you're pulling at the same time. A good question. I haven't tried that yet.
hi there could you tell me what you used to get cat controll to work on the usdx radio and what software did you use on android
Thank you for sharing this! It's something I've been curious about on my epropulsion. Let us know how it's going and if you think there's any improvement in efficiency or performance. Cheers
It was a fun experiment. There was a little bit more push, maybe a slight bit more speed, but nothing too substantial on the first use or two. I haven't tried it on different boats under different conditions though. Thanks for your comments.
The question is...doesnt it pull down the road terribly long term?
I pulled it a couple times and then set it up at a local campground. It was fine at reasonable speeds for local runs.
Your wife is a saint! I guess she’ll be at the Marriott? You need a decent air mattress so you don’t wake up looking like Ruffles potato chips.
Better than on the sidewalk.
do you have the cad files for this boat? it’s exactly what i’ve been looking for!
They were purchased through Duckworks and designed by Paul Fisher in the UK. Nice folks. duckworks.com/8-skiffle-junior-motor-boat-plans/
@@drez20001 good to know! i’ve seen them online before. i assume you have to transfer them to your software?
Where did you get your cushion covers?
I made them myself. Pretty easy just using plywood and stapled on fabric.
CONFUSED: Got this today. Lowes had it for $379.00. Home Depot matched the price since they had it for $590.00. I'm confused about something. If we have it in our VW Bus camping, do we have to put the drain hose on and put that in a bucket or something while in the Bus? Or do we just plug it and it evaporates on it's own while in AC mode. Cannot figure this out. Nothing stating this anywhere. Thanks.
Not sure on the draining without the hose for condensation. Mine would use the tube for the condensation.
I thought you'd put a soar canopy on the boat! But I suppose that doesn't fit your needs.
Yeah, a solar canopy on this boat would be a bit awkward. I have a folding bimini top on hot sunny days but it wouldn't support much in the way of solar panels. The solar charging I'm doing is working extremely well and the boat is always ready to go. Thanks for your comments.
Hey, just curious if almost the same speed (like 80%) could be achieved with the Navy 3.0 (half as strong).
Not sure. There is a point where the lines cross but I haven't played with the Navy 3.
Are you zeroing that on top of the decal and then giving it ?? downward?
It's been a while since I made the video but if I remember correctly, yes, zeroed and then did a very shallow "cut" to cut the vinyl.
If you had an enclosure on your Glastron (like a camper enclosure) that unit could run off of your battery bank and probably not even put a dent in it. No bugs and cool air for cruising.
It could. The little a/c is great for small spaces. A cool (no pun intended) little unit.
My friend did the same thing to a pop up. Now it weighs 1620 pounds. I noticed right away that the tongue has too much flex. Eventually it will break. So I’m replacing the entire tongue with heavier steel from just in front of the axle all the way to the front. The frame is way too thin.
It's been a few years but I did weigh the camper in one of the videos. I seem to remember it being well under 1,000#.
A Gatton Garrageworks CNC... When did that happen?
Thanks for noticing! Yep, I stumbled onto a guy that was selling his assembled 4x4 Gatton CNC a few weeks ago and I couldn't say no. Stay tuned for videos of that machine at work. It's pretty cool.
I could use one of those in my garage! Do you use that in your workshop? And if so, do you run the heat pipe outside?
I've used it in small campers but not my workshop. It's a great little unit for very small spaces or "face cooling" when outside at a picnic bench or in a beach chair. For an overnight boat trip it would work in a small boat cabin. I have run the heat pipe out of windows to help manage heat exhaust.
@@drez20001 Did you ever make a video on how you set it up in your camper? I believe you mentioned in your initial review you were going to. Thanks!
@@camilrykowski5765 I never really got around to a full set up in my little camper build of the old pop up. I had plans to build an enclosure and a baffle to separate the rear exhaust but never really needed it for that purpose. Thanks for the question.
Good looking watch my preference is the Diver style automatic watch, I'm in my sixties and my first watch was given to me when I was around 9yrs old it was a Seiko diver automatic the turtle style 45mm which is still a great and very cool watch even today. Well in later years I felt like I wanted the watch to be just a little larger in diameter and I am not tall its just like you get used to certain things. Then I discovered the Aragon watch brand most of their watches are large which I like but they do make a few in 38 40 43 45mm but I wanted the 50mm and now I have two one of them with a stainless bracelet and another with a colorful dial with a silicone bracelet and I really like both of them they do use seiko movement. I do like the invicta diver at 47mm I just recently gave one to my nephew and the aragon's are priced similarly. 50mm is now my watch size but only for those who feel similarly to me as noted above. Oh almost forgot, any buyers wait for them to add a discount code they do that all the time Thanks for the watch review
Prettty awesome set up
Thanks! A fun build.
Does this use freon as a coolant?
Not sure what the coolant used was. It has held without any leaks for several years.
What are the specs of these panels?
Per the sticker on the back for each panel: Max Power (Pmax) 365W; Max Power Voltage (Vmp) 34V; Max Power Current (Imp) 10.74A; Made by Hyundai Energy Solutions - Model HiN-S365XG(BK). Each panel weighs about 45 pounds. I paid $150 each for the panels. So far they're working great and within spec.
Small wood stove, snowy night, scary movie and some coffee.
Cozy!
How many inches on base front to back
We sold the camper a couple years ago so can't measure unfortunately.
very cool
Thanks! Fun and pretty easy CNC work.
